Deleting your data

Other languages: FrançaisEspañolPortuguês

You may ask at any time for the personal data YUPGRADE holds about you to be deleted, without having to justify your request and at no cost. This page sets out the procedure, what is deleted, and what the law requires us to keep.

How to make the request

Send a message to contact@yupgrade.academy with the subject line “Delete my data”, stating:

We need nothing else. Do not attach identity documents or bank details: we do not ask for them and we do not keep them.

You will receive written confirmation once the deletion is complete, and at the latest one month after we receive your request, in accordance with Article 12 of the General Data Protection Regulation.

What you can delete yourself, immediately

Your profile, your date of birth, the profiles you have compared and your portrait are not stored on our servers: they remain on your device. You can erase them without writing to us:

This deletion is immediate and final. We keep no copy of it, because that data never reached us.

What is kept, and why

If you have made a purchase, the billing records for that transaction are kept even after your data is deleted. We have no choice: Article L123-22 of the French Commercial Code requires accounting records to be kept for ten years.

Those records are limited to the amount, the date, the product purchased and the transaction reference. They are held by our payment provider, Stripe, and are used for no other purpose: no emails, no analysis, no commercial transfer.

If you have subscribed to the daily reading, cancel it before requesting deletion, or say so in your message: cancellation and deletion are two separate operations.

Your other rights

Besides deletion, you have the right to access, rectify, restrict, object to and port your data. These rights are exercised at the same address, contact@yupgrade.academy.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you may refer the matter to the French data protection authority, the CNIL, 3 place de Fontenoy, 75007 Paris, France, www.cnil.fr.

Full details of our processing activities, their legal bases and their retention periods are set out in our privacy policy.
